Struggles are a norm, don’t you think? Every time we are hit by them, it is our very natural response to talk to our closed ones, listen to music, watch funny TV shows, or bury ourselves in our bed, just to feel better.
I did all of those too – I listened to Mariah Carey’s ‘Hero’ over and over, went to my best friends and my mom, and sleep for long hours.. but somehow my soul was not fulfilled. Long story short, my dear friend (whom I love for the sake of Allah) brought me to an Imam of the neighborhood; he gave me a perspective that I have never seen before, and I realized that I have found the answer. I found it in Islam and my heart was finally at peace.
Fast forward, I was struggling again.
This time I knew I have Allah with me. But wouldn’t it be great if I can also be reminded by Allah’s words and Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) sayings to give me strength? We all have heard that ‘Islam is the source of peace,’ but how many of us really know where it is? Yeah, it is in the Qur’an and ahaadeeth, but where exactly?
Hence the idea.
On another occasion – being a person who is passionate in design, I was thinking, how can I channel my passion to something meaningful and beneficial?
Hence, another idea.
Lift Me Up is developed for you and I to gain strength by turning to Allah SWT and be reminded by His words and words of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) at the first strike of calamity, before anything and anybody else.
Ultimately, we hope that through this humble effort, our hearts will find delight in Qur’an and Sunnah.
May Allah SWT make our hearts attached to Him, Ameen.
Your sister in Islam,
